Purpose of the role

At Proton we want to explore new areas to grow. In this role you will help build a new android application with a strong foundation. You will design, develop, test and maintain a new proton application. As the first member of this android team, you'll have the opportunity to break new ground and design a new application. You will also collaborate with other android developers to solve complex technical and user-experience challenges. All proton engineering teams with cross-functionally with Product, Engineering and Security teams to build and operate a secure, scale-able and perform-ant ecosystem across our suite of products.


What you will do:

  • Lead decisions to build primary Android application.
  • Architect and develop solutions to ambiguous problems with significant impact.
  • Mentor and train other team members on design techniques and coding standards.
  • Facilitate alignment and clarity across the team on goals, outcomes, and timelines.
  • Analyse and optimize infrastructure application code for quality, efficiency, and performance.

Job requirements

  • can write apps in Kotlin
  • know Android Studio well
  • are big on writing all the relevant tests
  • have experience using MVVM or other scalable architecture
  • have knowledge of mobile engineering best practice and agile development methodologies
  • know your way around Git
  • love to share knowledge with others
  • are comfortable raising problems and values clear communication
  • can find the right balance between perfect code and meeting business objectives on time

If you have built shared modules/components before, you get extra points.
